How To Improve Facebook Video Views Without Going Live

Everyone is currently loving Facebook live videos, but you don’t have to go live to put a video out there, because I know, it can be totally nerve-racking! Instead, you can upload and share videos to Facebook, but in order to get the most out of them, you’ll want to follow these tips!

Step 1: Upload your video to your video library

On your business’s page, click on Publishing Tools, then locate Video Library on the right side of the page. Here you’ll see all of the videos that you may have uploaded to your page in the past. When you click on each video you’ll also see stats like number of views and average watch time, and other valuable info!

From here, click the Upload button to upload your new video to Facebook.

If the video is 1 minute or less, go for a square aspect ratio.
If your video is over 1 minute, a widescreen video will create a better viewing experience.

Once the video is uploaded, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Add title, thumbnail, and tags

This is where you’re going to attract attention and pique interest and actually encourage people to click on and watch your video!

● Chose a title that’s catchy and accurately describes the content in the video.
● Upload an appealing thumbnail that contains less than 20% text.
● Add tags that are relevant to your video.
● Consider uploading an SRT file to add captions to your video

SRT files are important because they help viewers who may be watching your video with their sound turned off! While Facebook has the option to automatically caption videos, from my experience, of the time it’s not very accurate and isn’t in sync with the video! There are multiple video transcription services out there that are much more accurate and start at around $1/minute.

You’re now ready to create an ad using this video!

Step 3: Set up an ad to promote your video

Now that your video is ready to go, it’s time to set up an ad to help you get those views you worked so hard to earn!

Create a new ad campaign and choose Video views as your objective. From here you’ll set up your targeting, budget, and ad placement just as you would with other ads you’ve set up in the past.

Once you reach the ad level, select Browse Library to select the video you just uploaded! Add a CTA and select Add a website URL to direct people to the appropriate page on your site and you’re ready to roll.

Have you discovered any tip or tricks that have helped YOU with gaining more or longer video views? I’d love to hear about them.
