In advertising, we talk a lot about “building your list.” You’re offering awesome incentives and freebies, you’re collecting those emails like candy! But then what? What should you be sending in your emails? What can do you do to convert subscribers into customers and starting making money?! Because yeah, we all love what we do, that’s why you started this business! But you also have to make some money—gotta pay the bills, right?!
Here are 5 ways that you can captivate your audience and make the most of each email you send.
1. Make sure you’re providing value
Many people are reluctant to give out the email address, “more spam emails in my inbox, no thanks!” So, when people entrust you with their email address, you have work to hold onto that trust.
You have to give them a reason to stay subscribed and even start looking forward to your emails!
Figure out a core theme or offering for your emails. Will you be sharing curated content, featuring new products or collections, giveaways? Once you figure out this base, then add additional content—like sales announcements!
2. Offer killer incentives once in a while
Now that users have been subscribed for a while and are loving your content, it’s time to surprise them! Give them something to get excited about.
A great offer is a good start, but try thinking outside the box as well! Maybe an updated version of content that customers love? Think of what you have to offer and what other customers have loved in the past!
3. Make your subscribers feel special and loved
Choose a milestone—6 months, 1 year, whatever—and show subscribers some love once they hit that milestone.
You can choose whether or not to offer a special deal or freebie, that part is up to you. But just sending them a huge thank you is enough to show that you care and make each subscriber feel special—like they matter!
4. Offer subscriber only sneak peeks or early deals
Everyone loves feeling like they’re a part of something exclusive, and offering subscribers early access to new products or deals can be the perfect way to do that!
Try giving behind-the-scenes sneak peeks into new projects/products you’re working on, or offer up promo codes a week before releasing sales to the public.
5. Show your thanks
Honestly, it doesn’t hurt to say thank you once in a while. You can do it in the form of promo codes, or simply celebrating big-wins with your subscribers and thanking them for being a part of your business!
